Your calls stay
on your laptop.

A macOS menu bar app that records your meetings, transcribes them entirely on-device with whisper.cpp, and summarizes them with Claude β€” only if you ask.

What it does

Built for people who
don't want to upload their meetings

Every other tool starts by asking for your audio. This one runs the whole pipeline on your machine.

Speaker labels, no diarization

Your mic and the system audio are captured as two separate tracks, transcribed independently, then merged by timecode. Every line comes out tagged Me or Them.

Records the call, not your desktop

ScreenCaptureKit filters by application, so it captures Slack, Microsoft Teams, Telegram or your Google Meet tab β€” and leaves the rest of your screen out of the video entirely. Teams works as the native client or as a browser tab.

Nothing leaves the machine

whisper.cpp ships inside the app and runs on the Metal GPU β€” an hour of audio takes a couple of minutes. Ukrainian, English, Spanish, German and Russian. Recordings live in a plain folder you own.

Summaries on demand

Press ✨ and the transcript goes to the Claude CLI, which writes back topics, decisions and action items β€” in the language of the call. Copy notes turns that into a message ready to paste into Slack.

Searchable history

Full-text search across every transcript you have recorded, straight from the menu bar. Plus .srt subtitles for every call.

Updates itself

Sparkle checks for new versions in the background and installs them in place β€” signed with a stable key, so your permissions survive every update.

Getting started

Two minutes to your first transcript

Notarized by Apple. No Homebrew, no terminal β€” most of that time is the speech model downloading.

1

Download and drag to Applications

Open the .dmg and drop Meeting Noter into your Applications folder. Signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens with a normal double-click β€” no security warnings, no terminal, no Homebrew.

2

Pick a speech model

On first run the menu offers two models and downloads the one you choose, with a progress bar. Large v3 Turbo (1.5 GB) for the best transcripts, Small (466 MB) if you want to start sooner. It is stored on your Mac and used offline from then on.

3

Grant screen and microphone access

Hit record and macOS asks for Screen & System Audio Recording plus Microphone. Restart the app after granting the screen permission β€” a running process does not pick it up. Then βŒ˜β‡§R starts and stops a recording from anywhere.
